This is a book two but it can be read as a standalone.
Three years ago, Alec McClane and Raegan Devereaux lived every parent’s worst nightmare: their one-year-old daughter, Emma, was abducted from a park when Alec turned his back for just a moment. Emma was never found and presumed dead. The crushing trauma, plus Alec’s unbearable guilt, ended the couple’s marriage.
Now a four-year-old girl matching Emma’s profile is found wandering a local park. Alec and Raegan are heartbroken to discover she’s not their daughter but is newly motivated to find closure…and each secretly feels desperate to be in the other’s presence again.
Alec suspects his vengeful biological father is behind Emma’s disappearance. But as Raegan investigates other abductions in the area, she sees a pattern—and begins to wonder if Emma’s kidnapping is actually linked to something more sinister.
As Alec and Raegan race to uncover the truth, a long-burning spark rekindles into a smoldering passion, and they realize they need each other now more than ever.
“Life goes. That’s what we learned. You never forget. You never stop looking. But you can’t spend your time living in the past or you miss out the present.”
I’ve been looking forward to reading this book. Might say that I’m kind of disappointed with Alec’s attitude and behavior. He’s been hurting his ex-wife while pushing her away yet he’s also the one been pulling her back into his arms.
Alec and Raegan has a daughter name Emma together. But she went missing one day when Alec brought her to a park to play. Everyone presume that Emma is dead except Raegan. Although Raegan did not blame Alec but he’s blaming himself and he pushed Raegan away by demanding a divorce.
Now, someone found a girl at the same park where Emma went missing but the little girl is not their daughter. Raegan still believes that her daughter is alive and is out to investigate all the missing children cases where Alec has been the one kept throwing negative thoughts towards her. He’s been a jackass asshole towards Raegan until I’ve complete almost half of the book. I’m very annoyed with this guy.
The story and plot are good. I kind of enjoying even though I want to kill Alec most of the time. 😁
