Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass series Book 1) by Sarah J Maas #bookreview #bookrecommendation

Hello, peeps. If you know me well enough, I hardly read fantasy novels. Because not many can capture my attention like Harry Potter. But I’ve decided to give this book a try and goodness me I’m so glad that I did!

After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.

Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king’s council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.

Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilarating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her… but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead… quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

TOG Book thoughts

I’ve been kind of busy while reading this book. Highlighting the names of the characters and taking notes of the characters that need my attention on my kindle.

I couldn’t stop reading once I started it and kind of hated myself for that cos I’m now having panda eyes. LOL.

Anyway, the story is about this assassin girl name Celaena who’s being punished and do slavery work at this salt mines. Many couldn’t survive for more than a month or so but she survives for a year. Before crown prince, Dorian approached her. He wants her to be his champion candidate cos his father wants a champion who will do his bidding and all his dirty works. He doesn’t just want Celaena like that. He thought of it as boring so he will hold this champion competition to determine who will win and be his champion.

This book will bring you through the journey of leaving the hell place to the palace and the training for the competition. From here, Celaena will meet many people who she’ll determine is her friend or foe. PS, this is just the beginning.
