Come Sundown

The Bodine ranch and resort in western Montana is a family business, an idyllic spot for vacationers. A little over thirty thousand acres and home to four generations, itโ€™s kept running by Bodine Longbow with the help of a large staff, including new hire Callen Skinner. There was another member of the family once: Bodineโ€™s aunt, Alice, who ran off before Bodine was born. She never returned, and the Longbows donโ€™t talk about her much. The younger ones, who never met her, quietly presume sheโ€™s dead. But she isnโ€™t. She is not far away, part of a new family, one she never choseโ€”and her mind has been shatteredโ€ฆ

When a bartender leaves the resort late one night, and Bo and Cal discover her battered body in the snow, itโ€™s the first sign that danger lurks in the mountains that surround them. The police suspect Cal, but Bo finds herself trusting himโ€”and turning to him as another woman is murdered and the Longbows are stunned by Aliceโ€™s sudden reappearance. The twisted story she has to tell about the pastโ€”and the threat that follows in her wakeโ€”will test the bonds of this strong family, and thrust Bodine into a darkness she could never have imagined.

COme Sundown Book Thoughts

I’ve listen to this book and I’m kind of making the wrong choice. Unexpectedly, this book has more characters appearing than ever. And as a frequent suspense reader, I tends to make note on the characters cos you’ll never know.ย

SO I did start to take note whenever new characters appearing and I tend to note the more ‘suspicious’ ones.ย

This book is leaning more towards family. Bodine and Cal the suppose main characters didn’t really capture my attention throughout the book. Instead, Alice, this character has been capturing my attention. There’re ‘two’ stories going on at the same time. One is about the past and then the present. There’re some POVs from secondary characters thus making the whole book seems long.ย

The book contains some heartbreaking and heart wrenching scenes which makes me cry when I’m hearing about it.ย

If you’re okay with family, western cowboys theme type of book, you might want to give this book a go.ย
