A Red-Hot SEALs Novel series by Trish McCallan #bookthoughts

There are 4 books in this series. And they’re not really standalone since the story didn’t really end until the 4th book.

The story started with a woman named Beth. She’s been having nightmares for three consecutive nights and it’s like showing her whatever is going to happen. AND Beth knew that there’s no way she will encounter that nightmare in real life since it’s impossible cos she did not have any place to go and she’s not taking any holiday any day soon. She pushed off until she found herself dressed in exactly the same clothes in her nightmare. She pushed off again when she heard the same thing playing in the radio and she somehow foresees what’s going to happen and she knows that she’s going to do something to prevent the hijacking of a plane.

Zane is a psychic in some way. He can see flashes in the future but that doesn’t exceed the few seconds. And while waiting to board the plane to Hawaii with his SEAL teammates, he saw their deaths. And that includes himself. Now they need to find the source. What happens that caused their deaths?

And this is how the story starts.

Beth Brown doesn’t believe in premonitions. But her recent dream feels too real to ignore: a commercial airliner is hijacked, and a handsome passenger is shot dead. Beth hasn’t met the mystery man in her dream; she would never forget a gorgeous face like his. But she can’t deny the bizarre connection she feels. Now awake, and unable to allow for the violence she’s convinced is impending, she races to the airport…and comes face to face with the man of her dreams.

Zane Winters lives for his job, using his uncanny psychic powers to carry out missions for elite SEAL Team 7. Yet the constant adrenaline highs can’t drown out the numbness seeping into his life as he yearns to find a woman he can trust. All that changes when he meets a beautiful stranger who sets his soul on fire—and somehow knows he’s about to die.

To thwart the global crisis the hijacking will unleash, Beth and Zane join forces. But even amid the danger, they can’t deny the powerful force drawing them together. Is it merely attraction…or destiny?

Navy SEAL Lieutenant Marcus “Cosky” Simcosky is no stranger to hot water, but recent events have boiled over into one hell of a mess. His team is under investigation for a hostage rescue gone wrong, a crazy female stalker is on his trail, and the last few bullets he took just may sideline him for the rest of his career. The kicker? The one woman who can help him get back on his feet—and has haunted his fantasies for years—is his teammate’s sister. He’s looked but never touched. When his stalker targets Kait, though, Cosky will have no choice but to do whatever is necessary to keep her safe.

Lieutenant Seth “Rawls” Rawlings, ST7’s corpsman, hasn’t been himself since a near-death experience in the Sierra Nevadas. He’s tense and distracted, and the team caught him arguing with himself—loudly. Despite his erratic behavior, Rawls is the only one Faith feels comfortable confiding her life-threatening secret in.

But Rawls has a secret of his own: his wasn’t the only spirit to return to the physical plane when he was resuscitated. At first, Rawls assumed the “ghost” he saw and heard meant he was having a complete mental breakdown. But the apparition soon becomes convincingly real, and what’s more, he may be the key to the conspiracy looming over them. Rawls had better act quickly because ST7’s race to save their reputations—and Faith’s life—is on.

Amy Chastain has made a lot of enemies—none so ruthless as the insanely powerful New Ruling Order (NRO). When they killed her husband, it was hell. Then they targeted her children by injecting them with a dangerous, experimental isotope. Now Amy trusts only one man to help her: the ex-commander of SEAL Team 7.

In the company of Navy SEALs, Jace “Mac” Mackenzie was in his physical element. Now he’s on the run from the same cabal that poisoned Amy’s children. That doesn’t stop him from launching a mission to bring down the NRO—and find an antidote. But the clock is ticking. And as the sparks fly between him and Amy, Mac realizes he has more to lose than ever before.

As Mac closes in on the NRO, he uncovers a plot that threatens more than Amy’s children. Now it’s a race against time to stop a global conspiracy, save the woman he loves, and protect the family that’s starting to feel like his.

book thoughts.gif

After reading the first book, I had high hopes for the book. It sounds so interesting, so paranormal and so action-packed. But unfortunately, I did not enjoy the series as much as I want to. The story managed to drag on and on and it includes various characters’ POVs.

Not to mention how much I dislike ‘Mac’ this character. He’s been acting like a scorned woman and he even refers the women as the bitch. Even the last book which includes more of him, his character still sucks. Based on his mother’s character and his ex’s character, he labeled all women the same. Like them. HE doesn’t feel sorry. And the connection between him and Amy doesn’t make sense to me at all. Amy had gone through lots of lots of unfortunate events and she still can fall in love with Mac in six months time. The story did conclude the endings for all the bad guys except one.

Dr. Charlotte Stone Series Book 2-4 by Karen Robards #bookthoughts

After reading the whole series, I must admit that the books really makes my blood boil and yet entertained at the same time.

Dr. Charlotte Stone is being invited by the FBI to help them investigate a series of killings in book one right? And she’s still involved with serial killers even though she almost died. And I really dislike her character. Too heroic and stupid for my liking. Not only her. FBI Agent, Tony Bartoli, is almost like her. Stupid.

The Last Kiss Goodbye

Dr. Charlotte “Charlie” Stone has dedicated her career as a psychiatrist to exploring the darkest territory of all: the hearts and minds of serial killers. It’s a job she’s uniquely suited for, thanks to the secret talent that gives her an uncanny edge—Charlie can see dead people, whose tormented spirits cry out to her for the justice only she can provide. This blessing—or curse—gives Charlie the power to hunt down and catch madmen and murderers. It’s also turned her love life upside down by drawing her into a hopelessly passionate relationship with the lingering ghost of charismatic bad boy Michael Garland.

But there’s little time for romance with her supernatural suitor when murder comes pounding at Charlie’s door in the form of a terrified young woman fleeing a homicidal maniac. Saving her life places Charlie squarely in the cross-hairs of a sadistic predator nicknamed “the Gingerbread Man,” notorious for manipulating his victims like pawns in a deadly chess game. And now the queen this psychopath’s bent on capturing is Charlie. Refusal to play will only put more innocent lives in danger. Matching wits with this cunningly twisted opponent will require all of Charlie’s training and expert skills. But even with her devilish “guardian angel”—not to mention her favorite flesh-and-blood Fed, Tony Bartoli—watching her beautiful back, the Gingerbread Man’s horrifying grin might be the last thing Charlie ever sees.

Her Last Whisper

Madness and murder invaded Dr. Charlotte Stone’s life when she was just a girl—and made her a woman determined to save others from the horror she survived. An expert in the psychology of serial killers, she’s faced down more than her share of human monsters. But Charlie can also communicate with the spirits of those who die violently, an extrasensory skill that has helped the FBI bring lethal predators to justice. Now, after narrowly escaping death a second time, Charlie’s ready to step away from the edge . . . before her luck runs out.

Too bad Charlie is too dedicated for her own good—and too devoted to federal agent Tony Bartoli to say no when he asks her to ride shotgun on yet another risky mission. Of course, she already has her hands full with Michael Garland: the handsome, roguish ghost with whom she’s hopelessly in love—a spirit who depends on Charlie to keep him from slipping forever into the dark side of the afterlife. But in the mortal world, beautiful single women are vanishing from Las Vegas hotels at night. All signs indicate that a psychopath is on the prowl in Sin City, and Bartoli’s FBI colleague Lena Kaminsky has reason to fear that her missing sister may be just the killer’s type.

In a town full of fast players and few rules, flushing out a smooth-talking stalker like the Cinderella Killer might be a loser’s game. But for Charlie, the only way to cage her quarry is to plunge back into the homicidal hell she vowed to leave behind—and may not leave alive.

The Last Time I Saw Her

In this world, Dr. Charlotte “Charlie” Stone skillfully probes the twisted minds of incarcerated serial killers to better understand what makes them tick, and to help nab those who remain at large. But in the next world, Charlotte’s ghostly lover—convicted killer Michael Garland—is facing death yet again. It seem the only way Charlie can snatch Michael from the jaws of oblivion is by proving his innocence. And this dead man’s dead ringer may just be the key.

A mysterious stranger has turned up in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, and Charlie is shocked to realize he could be Michael Garland’s identical twin. But she suspects the resemblance is only skin deep—and that behind the handsome face may lurk the perverse mind of a killer. While using all her keen profiling gifts, Charlie risks her life to discover the shocking secret that will clear Michael’s name.

Then a breakout at Wallens Ridge State Prison forces Charlie to contend with a sudden swarm of psychopaths bent on spilling blood. No one has a better chance of tracking down the deadly fugitives than Charlie—unless the rampaging killers manage to find her first and make this case her last. But Michael will move heaven and hell—and even make a devil’s bargain—for the chance to save Charlie’s life, and feel her touch once more . . . if only for the final time.

book thoughts.gif

“The Last Kiss Goodbye” is about Charlie save a woman from a madman named ‘The Gingerbread Man’. She is in her house when the woman knocked on her door and screaming that someone is after her. And she let the woman in just like that.

She almost got herself killed and Michael, the Casper, has to save her once again from the madman’s hand.

“Her Last Whisper” Before she can fully recover, FBI Agent Tony aka the guy who has the hots for her seek her help again when Kaminsky the FBI bitch’s sister went missing. And she believes that she’s being abducted by a serial killer.

And she’s being thrown into the investigation about the serial killer. Not only that, they jeopardize her life and her friend’s life. What makes Tony stupid was that he brought Charlie along when they’re investigating the killer’s killing ground. He’s armed but she’s not. She’s just a civilian who’s being captured by the serial killer once again. AND Casper sacrificed himself to save her. And we have her wailing and ‘crying’ and heartbroken cos the man she loves has been pulled into ‘Spooksville’ and there’s nothing she can do about it.

“The Last Time I Saw Her” is an epic ending which almost makes me laugh out loud. About how she save Michael from being framed by a bad guy.

Overall? This series is really entertaining yet infuriating at the same time. I dislike such stupid heroine. And I really like Michael. He’s the one character who grows on me.

The Last Victim (Dr. Charlotte Stone 1) by Karen Robards #bookthoughts #romanticsuspense

Been away for quite some time. And that’s because I’ve been binge watching Grey’s Anatomy and that’s hell! Since I couldn’t stop watching the series and I really hate that! I’ve been lagged behind on my readings and hope that I can catch up soon.

The Last Victim

A sought-after expert in criminal pathology, Dr. Charlotte Stone regularly sits face-to-face with madmen. At the age of sixteen, she herself survived a serial killer’s bloodbath. Because of the information she gave police, the Boardwalk Killer went underground, but Charlie kept her postmortem visions of the victims to herself. Years later, to protect her credibility as a psychological expert, she tells no one about these apparitions. Now a teenage girl is missing, her family slaughtered. The Boardwalk Killer—or a sick copycat with his M.O.—is back. This is the one case Charlie knows she shouldn’t go near. But she also knows that she may be the one person in the world who can stop this vicious killer, especially when she receives help from an unexpected source: The fiery spirit of a seductive bad boy who refuses to be ignored.

Umm… Let’s see… This is my very first time reading a book by this author and it really surprises me. I just want to reserve my thoughts first. And I think that I might have a clearer picture if I finish the second book.

The suspense is great. It’s really very suspenseful and there’s a chase there. They’re hunting a certain serial killer whose m.o. is very similar to the one that happened way back. And the clues are not very obvious yet intriguing at the same time.

Characters are the ones who have me on the reserve. Let’s keep it in this way first. I’d like to add that there’s some paranormal in the book.

The Bone Collector (Lincoln Rhyme Book 1) by Jeffery Deaver #bookreview

Have you read or watch this movie before? As for me, ya I admit. I’m kind of slow when it comes to reading books or watching movies unless it’s a horror movie. 😂

I did watch this movie a while ago and I decided to read the book. And yes, I read this book sometime around last year I guess? It’s a well-written book which includes suspense and thrill. The adrenaline for chasing and hunting down the perp is great and I would not recommend reading this book before bedtime.

The detective was the former head of forensics at the NYPD, but is now a quadriplegic who can only exercise his mind. The killer is a man whose obsession with old New York helps him choose his next victim. Now, with the help of a beautiful young cop, this diabolical killer must be stopped before he can kill again!

the bone collector book thoughts.gif

Mind you, the book doesn’t give much description of what this book about. And either you watch the movie before reading or you spend some time reading the reviews by other readers.

There are two main characters in the book. One is Amelia Sachs. She is a patrol officer who was called to investigate a crime scene and her fast reaction to seal the crime scene. The area that she sealed is huge and caused a huge commotion but Lincoln Rhyme is thankful to her. And Amelia plays a more important part in the investigation since Lincoln has her to act as his legs.

Lincoln Rhyme is the main character. After an accident, he’s paralyzed from the head down to his legs. He’s been seeking ways to die but his caregiver wouldn’t give him any chance. But this case has attracted Lincoln’s attention since he’s very well aware that the perp they’re hunting is very smart. And he/she is leaving clues for them.

There’s a number of big words in the book which has me refer to the dictionary. And some medical terms I don’t understand. What makes this book good is that it’s very hard to guess the perp. Isn’t that interesting?

Phantom Evil by Heather Graham #bookreview

This is book 1 of Krewe of Hunters series. Paranormals activity investigation??? Something like that… But they’re more legitimate since the leader is a guy from the bureau.

Phantom Evil

A secret government unit, a group of renegade paranormal investigators…and a murder no one else can crack

Though haunted by the recent deaths of two teammates, Jackson Crow knows that the living commit the most heinous crimes.

A police officer utilizing her paranormal intuition, Angela Hawkins already has her hands full of mystery and bloodshed.

But one assignment calls to them too strongly to resist. In a historic mansion in New Orleans’s French Quarter, a senator’s wife falls to her death. Most think she jumped; some say she was pushed. And yet others believe she was beckoned by the ghostly spirits inhabiting the house—once the site of a serial killer’s grisly work.

In this seemingly unsolvable case, only one thing is certain: whether supernatural or all too human, crimes of passion will cast Jackson and Angela into danger of losing their lives…and their immortal souls.

Phantom evil book thoughts.gif

I must say that I’m ridiculously enjoying this book. Might be due to there are paranormals, suspense and some romance added to it.

Jackson Crow, an agent from Behavioral Science Unit in D.C. is being assigned to investigate a case pertaining to a Senator name David Holloway. His wife is dead and the coroner rules her death as a suicide but Senator doesn’t believe his wife will commit suicide since she’s determined to start over again with her husband after their son’s death.

Jackson is to lead a group of five members from different aspects of life. Angela Hawkins, Whitney Tremont, Jake Mallory, Jenna Duffy and Will Chan. Angela Hawkins is from Virginia police force. Whitney recently had done camera work for a paranormal cable television show. Jake is a musician but involved heavily in searches or called in to help with kidnapping cases. Jenna is a registered nurse from Ireland and lastly, Will is a magician.

They have different background and occupation but they all come very nicely under Jackson’s guidance and leadership. They were to stay at the place in the French Quarter which is known famously as a house of terror. Where a serial killer name Madden C. Newton had killed many victims in the house following the Civil War.

There’s some paranormal element in the book, add some suspense since they’re investigating the Senator’s wife death. Throw in the romance between Jackson and Angela makes the whole book very enjoyable.

So who’s the devil? Who’s the evil lurking???

I Know A Secret – A Rizzoli and Isles Novels Book 12 by Tess Gerritsen #bookreview

Alright, peeps! Finally, this shall be crowned as my favorite out of her series! The one that kept me frowning, guessing and analyzing what the hell is going on?!

I Know A Secret

Two separate homicides, at different locations, with unrelated victims, have more in common than just being investigated by Boston PD detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles. In both cases, the bodies bear startling wounds—yet the actual cause of death is unknown. It’s a doubly challenging case for the cop and the coroner to be taking on, at a fraught time for both of them. As Jane struggles to save her mother from the crumbling marriage that threatens to bury her, Maura grapples with the imminent death of her own mother—infamous serial killer Amalthea Lank.

While Jane tends to her mother, there’s nothing Maura can do for Amalthea, except endure one final battle of wills with the woman whose shadow has haunted her all her life. Though succumbing to cancer, Amalthea hasn’t lost her taste for manipulating her estranged daughter—this time by dangling a cryptic clue about the two bizarre murders Maura and Jane are desperately trying to solve.

But whatever the dying convict knows is only a piece of the puzzle. Soon the investigation leads to a secretive young woman who survived a shocking abuse scandal, an independent horror film that may be rooted in reality, and a slew of martyred saints who died cruel and unusual deaths. And just when Rizzoli and Isles think they’ve cornered a devilish predator, the long-buried past rears its head—and threatens to engulf more innocent lives, including their own.

I KNow A Secret Book Thoughts

Detective Jane Rizzoli and Medical Examiner Doctor Maura Isles are back in action again. And what they’re bringing this time?? They’re bringing my favorite story out of the whole series that I’ve read so far.

Rizzoli and Frost are being called to investigate a murder. The victim’s father is the one who found her body. And due to the gruesome sight, the father had a heart attack while talking to Rizzoli. Gruesome scene but Isles couldn’t determine the cause of death. Weird. They thought. Even after Isles done the autopsy, she couldn’t determine the cause of death.

While Isles is opening the victim up, her birth mother, the infamous serial killer Amalthea Lank is haunting Isles again. This time with her sickness worsens, she still managed to manipulate Isles by coming to visit her. Which I thought that Isles is stupid to visit her since they share nothing in common yet her birth mother is delusional and jealous that Isles turned out different from them. But of cos, Isles doesn’t realize that. Amalthea always managed to crawl into Isles’ head and leave something for her. Insecurities. That one day, Isles might turn up like her birth family.

Rizzoli. Still trying to solve the bizarre death of the woman. And trying to help her mother since she’s so unhappy ever since she reconciled with her father. Angela Rizzoli gave up her happiness to bring peace in the family. Yet Frank Rizzoli Sr still acting the same way. The same douche bag. The same taking things for granted asshole who doesn’t seem sorry that he cheated on his wife first. But luckily for Rizzoli, her FBI Agent husband is one in a million. Understanding and always know his wife needed.

When another murder occurs, Isles knew that the case is linked to the previous one that they are unable to solve yet. Is she right?? Or it’s a mere coincidence?

This is definitely a good book with unsolve mystery waiting for you to link them together. And we are so fortunate to meet a sociopath. Only the sociopath matters. Others are just collateral in the sociopath’s mindset.

The Trapped Girl by Robert Dugoni #bookreview

The Tracy Crosswhite Series Book 4.

And yes! I did read the first three books! All can be read as a standalone. So no worries.

The Trapped Girl

When a woman’s body is discovered submerged in a crab pot in the chilly waters of Puget Sound, Detective Tracy Crosswhite finds herself with a tough case to untangle. Before they can identify the killer, Tracy and her colleagues on the Seattle PD’s Violent Crimes Section must figure out who the victim is. Her autopsy, however, reveals she may have gone to great lengths to conceal her identity. So who was she running from?

After evidence surfaces that their Jane Doe may be a woman who suspiciously disappeared months earlier, Tracy is once again haunted by the memory of her sister’s unsolved murder. Dredging up details from the woman’s past leads to conflicting clues that only seem to muddy the investigation. As Tracy begins to uncover a twisted tale of brutal betrayal and desperate greed, she’ll find herself risking everything to confront a killer who won’t go down without a deadly fight.

The Trapped Girl Book Thoughts.gif

Tracy Crosswhite who wanted to be a police officer was when her sister went missing and her body was never found. Until one day after more than a decade, her sister remains were being uncovered. Till today, her sister’s death and murderer still remain a mystery.

Tracy is the only woman in the homicide department and she got along well with her co-workers except for her Captain. He always used the case as a chance to be interview until the last recent ones. The one he did fucked up but he got off with written reprimand letter which doesn’t satisfy me cos I dislike that man to the max! From the first book to now.

So this case we have Tracy investigating the death of a ‘Jane Doe’ who went for reconstructive surgery and using a fake ID. Seems like she’s trying very hard to cover her tracks and hiding from someone. But who?

This is not a romantic suspense genre book. There’s some romance in it but not much.

Absolute Fear by Lisa Jackson #romanticsuspense #bookreview

This is book 4 of A Rick Bentz/ Reuben Montoya Novel series. I’d recommend you to read ‘Cold Blooded’ first if you want to really understand about the characters in the book.

Absolute Fear

For the past three months, Eve Renner has struggled to remember the night she was nearly killed and her lover was tried for murder. She remembers getting the anxious call from a friend from her past: “Meet me at the cabin. I’ve got evidence.” She remembers seeing that friend lying in a pool of blood. And she remembers a horrifying glimpse of her lover Cole Dennis’s face as a gunshot plunged her into darkness. Now, her memory and emotions scarred, Eve has returned to New Orleans to forget the past. But the past will not be forgotten. Eve’s shattered memory has helped Cole walk on murder charges just as a new series of killings begins.

The latest murders are bizarre and baffling. The victims are killed in a ritual fashion, a series of numbers tattooed on their bodies. 212. 101. 111. 323. There is no clue to their meaning, no connection to the victims except one: Our Lady of Virtues Hospital, the crumbling old asylum that was once the scene of unspeakable madness. For Eve, it was a second home as a child. Her father was a doctor there, and she spent hours exploring its secret chambers, hidden rooms, and forbidden passageways. Somewhere in its decaying rooms lies the key to a terrible crime, a betrayal beyond imagining whose echoes are now being felt with a vengeance–a crime that seems to lead to Eve herself. And the only man she can trust with the search is Cole, her former lover and, just possibly, a cold-blooded killer.

As forgotten memories begin to surface, bodies are found and each twist leads to another terrifying piece of the puzzle. Someone is watching, planning, luring her back to the ruins of Our Lady and the shocking truths hidden there–someone who has been waiting for this moment to strike. He is deadlier than she could ever have imagined and closer than she knows. For the sins of the past must be revealed, the crimes brought to justice, and the price paid–in blood.

Absolute Fear Book Thoughts.gif

After reading the book,  I find that the relationship between the characters is very complicated. Everything starts at ‘Our Lady of Virtues Sanitarium’. Everything links back to Faith Chastain.

There’s a character who I kind of sad to see him killed off but after reading this book, I’m not sad anymore.

So Eve Renner had received a call from her friend asking to meet him at a cabin. When she arrived, she saw him dead and the last thing she saw before she went down was her lover standing there holding a gun. Eve thought that Cole killed her friend and wanted to kill her too but is it??

Some of the mystery  is solved involving that sanitarium. I’m not sure if that place is going to come up again.

Black Hills by Nora Roberts #bookreview #romanticsuspense

“The head is always the dupe of the heart.” – LA ROCHEFOUCAULD

Black Hills

Cooper Sullivan spent the summers of his youth on his grandparents’ South Dakota ranch, sharing innocent games and stolen kisses with the neighbor girl, Lil Chance. Now, twelve years after they last walked together hand in hand, fate has brought them back to the Black Hills.

Coop has left his fast-paced life as an investigator in New York to take care of his aging grandparents and the ranch he has come to call home. Though the memory of his touch still haunts her, Lil has let nothing stop her dream of opening the Chance Wildlife Refuge, but something…or someone…has been keeping a close watch. When small pranks and acts of destruction escalate into a heartless attack on Lil’s beloved cougar, memories of an unsolved murder in these very hills have Coop springing to action to keep Lil safe.

Lil and Coop know the natural dangers that lurk in the wild landscape of the Black Hills. But a killer of twisted and unnatural instincts has singled them out as prey…

Black Hills BOok Thoughts.gif

If you enjoy about animals, wildlife, ranches, friends turn to lovers, second chances and some suspense, you definitely would want to pick this  up. First love is always the hardest to get over with and forget. And that’s the story Coop and Lil is going to tell us.

This is one of the earlier books by Nora Roberts and I’m glad that I picked this up.

The story went back to where Cooper Sullivan is forced to spend his summers with his grandparents when his parents are taking time to enjoy their second honeymoon in order to save their marriage. He hated the place. He hated being at South Dakota where everywhere seems foreign and outdated to him. He met a girl around his age, Lillian Chance. Everyone calls her Lil. And she enjoys riding horses and playing baseball. They become friends when Cooper realized that Lil is a very cool girl unlike those girls back in New York. They spend the summer together and they become best friends. Everything is great with them until they become lovers and Cooper broke things off with Lil.

Ten years later, Cooper is back. His grandfather is injured and he’s back for good to help them run their ranch. Whereby Lil’s ‘Chance Wildlife Refuge’ has been set up and run for years. Her dreams came true. Two ex-lovers cross paths again and Cooper couldn’t leave Lil alone when he knows that the threats make against the refuge is actually meant for Lil.

The black cougar  who taken a liking to Lil is the main selling point. The way he acted around her is so way too damn cute.

Shiver by Lisa Jackson #bookreview #romanticsuspense

All right, this is book 3 of (A Rick Bentz/ Reuben Montoya Novel). Book 2 is where Detective Rick Bentz found his second love. And now it’s his partner, Reuben Montoya’s turn.

Shiver

The Crimes Are Unthinkable

A serial killer is turning the Big Easy into his personal playground. The victims are killed in pairs–no connection, no apparent motive, no real clues. It’s a very sick game, and it’s only just begun.

The Fear Is Real

Abby Chastain left New Orleans long ago and for good reason. Now she’s back where she feels watched, as if the devil himself is scraping a fingernail along her spine. It doesn’t help that Detective Reuben Montoya is convinced she’s somehow the key to unlocking these horrible crimes–a mystery that has something to do with Our Lady of Virtues Mental Hospital, a decaying old asylum where unspeakable crimes were once committed, and a human predator may still wait.

The Truth Is Deadly

As more bodies are found in gruesome, staged scenarios, Montoya and Abby are in a desperate race to stop a killer whose terrifying crimes are bringing them ever nearer to a shocking revelation. For the past is never completely gone. Its sins must be avenged. And a twisted psychopath is getting close enough to make them. . .

SHiver Book thoughts.gif

Everything started at “Our Lady of Virtues Sanitarium”.

It seems that the Doctors there did more than just treating their patients. Everything started with Faith Chastain. The beautiful Faith Chastain who is being treated at this sanitarium. But something more sinister is going on in this sanitarium. And then Faith ‘fell’ and die when her family came to visit her on her birthday.

Everything started again even though twenty years had passed. “Our Lady of Virtues Sanitarium” had been closed down for years but everything seems to point back to that place.

This book is addicting, intriguing yet annoying  at the same time. Some part in the book is too lengthy. Although sad to say the book actually can end way sooner but there’re some additional scenes added into it which I don’t really think it’s relevant.

From where I see, this is not the end of “Our Lady of Virtues Sanitarium”. It only just begun.
