I’m still having reading slump but I’ve picked up this heartbreaking book to read.
“I never meant to do it…she was just there when I needed someone…”
Rachel and Daniel had three adorable children and a strong marriage—or so Rachel had always believed.
But her happy life was shattered when she was told that Daniel had been having an affair. Then she realized that they’d been growing apart for years.
Rachel wanted so much to save her marriage—but was it too late? Could she ever forgive Daniel, if he had committed the ultimate betrayal?
Rachel and Daniel have been married for seven years and they have three children together. Daniel is a self-made millionaire and he kept Rachel away from his business dealings and Rachel doesn’t know much except during some dinners that they hosted for their family and friends. Rachel has been living well protected from her parents then from Daniel and his own mother. Rachel is very much in love with her husband and she thought her husband has been very much in love with her until one day a call she received from her friend destroy the very bubble that she’s living in. Her husband has been having an affair and it seems that she’s the last one to know about it. When Rachel saw her husband devastated face, she knows that it’s true. Her husband did betray her.
I had a good time reading this book. Cos Rachel is only seventeen when she married Daniel and she’s been sheltered and protected since. She’s still so innocent and so child like and it’s very fun to watch how she’s going to break out the wall and grow up. I have a good time following her into this journey.
Some might condemn Daniel as an a**h*** but just continue to read the book and you’ll realize that there a lot of secrets.
Remember that you need to read The Mortal Instrument Series first before reading this.
In a time when Shadowhunters are barely winning the fight against the forces of darkness, one battle will change the course of history forever. Welcome to the Infernal Devices trilogy, a stunning and dangerous prequel to the New York Timesbestselling Mortal Instruments series.
The year is 1878. Tessa Gray descends into London’s dark supernatural underworld in search of her missing brother. She soon discovers that her only allies are the demon-slaying Shadowhunters—including Will and Jem, the mysterious boys she is attracted to. Soon they find themselves up against the Pandemonium Club, a secret organization of vampires, demons, warlocks, and humans. Equipped with a magical army of unstoppable clockwork creatures, the Club is out to rule the British Empire, and only Tessa and her allies can stop them….
Truth to be told, I kind of took a long time to finish this book even though I’m listening and reading at the same time. The first quarter of the book really bore me.
This book will explain some of the questions that appear in The Mortal Instruments. Hoping that the next book will be good!
For Desi, it was a chance to make her fantasies come true. For Jake, it was a night of mind-blowing sex. It wasn’t supposed to lead to anything more.
Now Desi and Jake must decide if that one night of passion—and a baby girl—can turn into a lifetime of love.
Desiree Weston knows Jake Lancing before he became famous in the acting world. She helped her eldest brother in the filming set when she came across Jake. She had a serious crush on him but he doesn’t know about her existence. Until one day, he met her on the plane when he’s sitting beside her and they had a one night stand resulting Desi pregnant with Jake’s baby.
Desi’s mentor asks Desi to work on a big project as the head of the makeup artist for the film Jake is directing and acting. She refused since she doesn’t want to face the guy again and she’s afraid that someone will know her daughter’s father is him. But her mentor told her the advantages that she’ll gain if she works in this film. Her name will be exposed and she’ll become well known and she can provide better for her infant daughter.
I like how the story starts since Jake didn’t forget about Desi and he accused her of sleeping her way up in her job. He kept bullying her around yet the sexual tension between them are there. Then the story starts to get boring for me since it’s like repeating itself.
I didn’t like the book or I dislike it. It’s an okay read for me.
Yo peeps! I’m back with another Harlequin romance story. The story normally are unbelievable but it’s quite addicting if you pick the right book. Cos normally they have lots of doormats heroines. But in this book, Elisa is not a doormat but someone who overcome difficulties on her own thinking that no one wants her.
It was a year since their tempestuous affair had ended. So why was he back? Elisa trusted Salvatore di Vitale as far as she could throw him. And, as the wealthy Sicilian was over six feet tall, that wasn’t very far.
Salvatore told Elisa he had come to protect her. And if their close proximity led to passion…and if passion should lead to pregnancy…all the better! Because then Elisa would have to marry him, which was Salvatore’s plan all along.
“Please, Salvatore. Don’t let me lose my baby. I promise I’ll never tell anyone who the father is. I’ll move back to America. I won’t bother you anymore. Just don’t let me lose my baby.”
Elisa’s is born from an affair between her Sicilian father and her actress mother. But her mother doesn’t want any marriage with her father and she kept Elisa with her even though she doesn’t have any maternal instinct inside her body and she doesn’t allow Elise called her mother. She has to call her Shawna.
But Elisa still visits her father back in Sicily and she met Salvatore there when he’s back to visit his father. Ironically, his father and Elisa’s father are best friends so their family is kind of close. Salvatore flirt with Elisa like any Sicilian men and she thought of nothing even though she has a crush on him since he’s so good looking as always in the book. Then he invited her for dinner when Elisa is in Milan. Then one thing led to another and they had sex. Thus started their brief affair when Elisa announced that she’s pregnant with Salvatore’s baby. Being a prick, he refused to acknowledge the baby is his and he’s furious that Elisa is trying to push the baby’s father role to him. He left her and refused to listen to her explanations.
One year later, he’s back and he’s ready to marry Elisa cos of his guilty conscious. He felt responsible for everything but he knows that he doesn’t love Elisa. Or did he?
I have to admit that my heart kept breaking when I’m reading this book.
I’ve read the graphic version but I like the original story better.
Been facing reading slump but suddenly I had a craving for Harlequin romance storm.
Sarah Hartwell’s sister died in childbirth leaving a son she’s determined to protect him. So when Greek tycoon Alex Terzakis comes to claim his brother’s child Sarah stands firm in the face of his dizzying wealth and power. In a final, desperate attempt to get rid of Alex she gives him an ultimatum: if he wants the baby he’ll have to marry her!
Believing Sarah is a gold-digger and expecting her to name a price for the child Alex is surprised by the beauty’s proposal…but astounds her by accepting. Yet Alex refuses to have a marriage in name only…he will claim his bride!
I must admit that I had a hard time reading the first few chapters since there are a lot of ugly words thrown between the both of them. Sarah Hartwell had a sister who’s pregnant with Damon Terzakis baby. But Alex Terzakis aka Damon’s brother stepped in and declare that he wants the baby after Sarah’s sister gave birth the baby and died. Sarah is infuriated with both the brothers and she refused to hand the baby over. Alex is DETERMINED to have the baby and is willing to pay any price including marrying Sarah.
As per the title suggest, their bond is by hatred since they hated each other and still marry each other. And their hatred turned into a passion and then hatred again when Alex starts to insult Sarah after their wedding.
Are you ready for Cincinnati PD Homicide Detective Scarlett Bishop and Army Ex-ranger Marcus O’Bannion story?
Homicide Detective Scarlett Bishop has seen enough bad guys slip through the cracks and innocent victims go unavenged to know that good doesn’t always prevail. So far she’s been able to lock away her rage and her vigilante fantasies. That lock is about to break.
Former Army Ranger Marcus O’Bannion is a fierce champion of victims’ rights. His secret past gives him good reason. He believes he’s seen the depths of human depravity, but then his investigation into the murder of a young girl who once asked for his help lures him and Scarlett down a dark, dark road—and straight into the crosshairs of a dangerous, powerful underground ring that deals in human trafficking. To stop them, Scarlett and Marcus have to be just as cunning and just as ruthless. But first they have to make it out alive.
TO be fair, the men description in the books are very very similar. Big, tall, huge, muscular, taller than most men, handsome or pretty. But the description of the women are very different and that’s a plus.
So no need for me to say, Marcus is a very attractive, tall, huge man who survived an attack when he tried to save a stranger from a killer who killed anyone getting into his way. Scarlett is there to protect him when he’s in ICU. Then months passed and they did not have any contact with each other until one night when he calls Scarlett to meet him in a dark alley and he needed her help. When Scarlett reach the place, she found a dead girl lying there shot dead and an injured Marcus. When they try to identify the ‘Jane Doe’, they start to unveil something more and dark. And while they’re investigating, someone is determined to take Marcus down. So who and why?
If you’ve read ‘Did You Miss Me’, you’ll remember FBI Special Agent Deacon Novak whose appearance is very striking and a superstar. He’s the main character in this book.
Psychologist Faith Corcoran is desperate to escape the stalker who’s made her life a nightmare for the past year—desperate enough to run to the one place that has been her nightmare far longer. Both boon and bane, her recent inheritance of her grandmother’s old house in Cincinnati offers sanctuary in which she can start her life anew, but requires that she face the dark memories that still resonate to this day.
But she has no idea how close to home her fears still are.
Two college girls have gone missing in the area, and FBI Special Agent Deacon Novak is called to work on the case. When his inquiry unexpectedly leads him to Faith, he finds a beautiful and brave woman he can’t help but fall for. Soon they’ll discover that this seemingly simple investigation is anything but. Reaching back decades into Faith’s own past, it will shatter everything she believes to be true and will give terrifying new meaning to flesh and blood.
I’ve been enjoying KR’s books so far. The suspense is there and so as the romance.
Faith is a psychologist who works with criminals thinking that they can be ‘save’. Especially she works on a case when the guy slit her throat when she exposed him but he swore an oath in court claiming that Faith is jealous of him and they’re having an affair. Many believe that man claims. When the man is released from prison, he’s stalking Faith and she made numerous complaints and reports to the Miami PD. But they didn’t take her claims seriously as all of them thought that Faith is trying to gain attention to herself and many felt that she deserves it. Faith ‘ran’ away by quitting her job and changed her last name so that no one will be able to track her location down as well as the stalker. But she’s wrong.
FBI Special Agent Deacon Novak had transferred to Cincinnati to be close to his family members. Especially his younger brother had gotten into trouble once again. He’s been assigned to work on an unconscious ‘Jane Doe’ case. She’s lying on the road naked and bleeding when a good Samaritan found her and call 911 for help. That’s when Deacon met Faith.
I couldn’t say much since I’ll be giving away clues but then the title did tell you something about it.
Baltimore Homicide Detective Stevie Mazzetti has suffered losses no woman should have to endure. And, despite it all, she’s still a fighter. When she learns that her ex-partner might have miscarried justice, she’s determined to put the past to rights, even when she becomes a target.
It’s former Marine Clay Maynard’s job to see the risk in every situation, but he doesn’t have to look hard to find the danger surrounding Stevie. Since the minute he first saw her, Clay has wanted to protect the wounded officer, and he started loving her not long after that. So when Stevie attracts the attention of a vicious psychopath, Clay will do whatever it takes to keep her alive. That is, if he can stay ahead of a killer with everything to lose—and something terrifying to hide…
Stevie in this book has been annoying me cos she breaks my Clay’s heart several times!
Stevie has been investigating cases her ex-partner had investigated cos he’s a bad cop who framed innocent for the rich. But many people didn’t want her to touch those cases. They want her silence. So Stevie has been dodging knife and gun until she met her friend for lunch. Innocent people are killed and Stevie cannot function properly when her leg injury is not fully recovered.
Clay has been protecting Stevie many times since he met her two years ago. But Stevie had made herself clear that she doesn’t want Clay. My heart keeps breaking for Clay because he’s really a very nice guy!
There’re many violence and deaths in this book. It’s very action packed except Stevie’s attitude.
Baltimore prosecutor Daphne Montgomery pulled herself out of a damaged past to build a solid life for herself and her son. But after she helps to convict a killer, her confidence is shattered once again by the news that her son has been kidnapped.
Daphne believes it’s connected to the recent high-profile trial, and at first FBI special agent Joseph Carter agrees. But together they find the reality to be even more troubling, and it runs deeper than Daphne fears. With her son’s life in jeopardy, she must unlock a dreadful secret about her past—and confront a truth that will change everything for those closest to her. And, if she survives, threaten the lives of everyone she loves.
I did spend a long time to get into this book. I might get a bit bored with the plot since it’s kind of easy to guess. It’s the ‘WHY’ that kept me going.
Daphne has been busy with one of a big case and she’s receiving death threats before the verdict is out. She employed a bodyguard to guard her son, Ford, without his knowledge. Then the verdict is out and killing spree started outside the courtroom. That’s also when Daphne realized that someone took her son.
Someone out there wants Daphne to hurt. Badly hurt and she doesn’t know who and why. We of cos know since the source is revealed a kind of early. But then the ‘WHY’ kept me going.
If you’ve read ‘Silent Scream’, you will recognize the characters in the book.
A car crashes in front of rookie PI Paige Holden’s home. And suddenly, she finds one of her pro bono clients dying in her arms—from a gunshot wound. With her last breath, the woman whispers cryptic words into her ear and hands her a blood-smeared flash drive.
Five years ago, State’s Attorney Grayson Smith put a murderer behind bars. But when Paige Holden shares the flash drive with him, its contents cast doubts on the conviction—and lead him and Paige into a world of blackmail, dark secrets, and a decades-long string of murders. An investigation they’ll survive only by trusting each other—and the truth.
I was wowed! Couldn’t put down my book for a break. Just want to keep going to find out what’s going on.
Paige is working as a PI when she received a request from a mother. The mother claimed that her son is innocent and begged Paige to look up and investigate the truth since she believes the police had planted the evidence against her son. Before Paige could really dig deeper, a woman driving a van crash into Paige’s home and died soon after when she’s being shot. She gave a vital evidence to Paige and she Paige realized that the mother might be right after all.
District Attorney Grayson Smith is a brooding man but he works seriously to bring justice to the victims and make sure the perps go to jail. But when Paige approached him and present him the evidence might prove an innocent man he sent to jail years back, Grayson is shock and skeptical.
I couldn’t figure out. Couldn’t until further evidence is presented. There’re some characters are mention but they’re vital in the story. Just be prepared that you wouldn’t want to give up the book.
